Our Portable Drum Transfer Pumps are designed for reliable and efficient fluid transfer, especially when handling corrosive liquids. The pump consists of a dip tube, at the end of which is an open impeller fixed to a drive shaft. The pump is connected via a ring nut, with the transmission occurring through a transmission joint. The impeller, which is integral with the shaft, is driven by either an electric or pneumatic motor via a coupling, generating a centrifugal effect for fluid movement.

These pumps are intended to be used vertically with the pump fully immersed in the fluid. Dry-running or the presence of air bubbles can damage the shaft guide and internal bushing. The pump’s design ensures that any product spillage during operation is collected within the drum, minimizing mess and waste.

How does an AODD pumps work?

An air operated double diaphragm pump also known as an AODD pump is a type of positive displacement pump which operates using compressed air instead of an electric motor. It consists of two flexible diaphragms connected by a shaft, which move back and forth to create suction and discharge cycles.

As compressed air enters one chamber, it pushes the diaphragm outward, forcing fluid out of that side whilst simultaneously drawing fluid into the opposite chamber. A set of check valves ensures that liquid flows in only one direction. The air supply then shifts to the other chamber, repeating the cycle and maintaining a steady flow.
